First Aviation Services Inc. was established in June 1995 by First Equity Group and has a rich history of acquiring strategic aerospace companies with deep engineering and manufacturing capability, guiding the company to sustained organic growth with continued reinvestment.

First Aviation launched a significant expansion of its component MRO operations through the acquisitions of Kelly Turbine Rotables, Inc., the repair and overhaul subsidiary of Kelly Aerospace Inc., and the propeller overhaul division of Piedmont Aviation Component Services, a division of TAT Technologies Ltd.  The Kelly operations renamed “Aerospace Turbine Rotables, Inc., have become the industry leader in the overhaul and repair of landing gear, hydraulics, electronics, structures, and safety equipment for corporate and military aircraft, under First Aviation’s ownership. 

Piedmont Propulsion Systems, LLC, as the former Piedmont propeller MRO operations are now known, has grown into the most capable aircraft propeller overhaul facility in the world, with unlimited Propeller Class 1 and Class 2 ratings and capabilities to overhaul all modern composite propeller systems in the regional and military markets.  

First Aviation’s Rotary Wing Group operations were born in 2019 through the acquisition of Aviation Blade Services Inc. and its FAA PMA subsidiary, Master Support, Inc.   ABS, headquartered in Kissimmee, FL, supports the global fleet of Sikorsky helicopters, including the ubiquitous UH-60 Blackhawk and numerous legacy platforms, with depot-level rotor blade repair services.   Heliblade International, LLC of Anderson, CA was later acquired to expand the company’s rotor blade capability into most other helicopter platforms and manufactures, and to provide more MRO services closer to the First Aviation’s West Coast customers.

In 2022, First Aviation acquired Ft. Lauderdale, FL-based Associated Aircraft Manufacturing and Sales, Inc., adding over one hundred twenty (120) Department of Defense source approvals for the repair and manufacturing of military aircraft parts.   AAMSI manufactures and repairs military aircraft landing gear and advanced electronics, and significantly expands First Aviation’s in-house manufacturing capabilities.

Today, First Aviation Services Inc., headquartered in Westport, CT, is a leading provider of repair and overhaul, parts manufacturing, and related engineering services to the worldwide aviation industry with five FAA approved 145 repair facilities and three FAA Parts Manufacturing Approvals (PMA).

Previously, First Aviation owned National Airmotive Corporation, an engine overhaul facility sold to Rolls Royce and Aerospace Products International, Inc., a leader in distribution and logistics.  An affiliate of First Aviation, in partnership with Greenbriar Equity Group, L.P., acquired DART Aerospace, a manufacturer of mission equipment and aftermarket components in the helicopter industry, which was subsequently sold to TransDigm Group Inc.
